On Wednesday night, the sports world stood still as a college volleyball game in Lincoln, Nebraska captured the attention of fans worldwide. Nebraska's women's volleyball team went head-to-head with Omaha at Memorial Stadium, in what was aptly named "Volleyball Day in Nebraska." The remarkable part? A staggering 92,003 fans filled the stands of a college football venue, setting a remarkable world record for attendance at a women's sporting event.

Among the thousands of spectators, LSU women's basketball star Angel Reese found herself inspired. Taking to Twitter on that very night, Reese expressed her desire to see her team play a game in the iconic Tiger Stadium. This tweet came in response to a question posed by former LSU baseball star and podcast host Mikie Mahtook, igniting a wave of excitement and anticipation among fans.

It is worth noting that Nebraska boasts one of the most formidable college volleyball programs in the nation. Under the guidance of Coach John Cook, the Cornhuskers have clinched four national championships and an impressive tally of over 650 victories during his 23-season tenure. The decision to host such a monumental game was initially announced by Nebraska back in February, with Athletic Director Trev Alberts making it clear that they aimed to set an unassailable attendance record. "We're going to do this once," Alberts exclaimed, "And I want to hope that the number is large enough that nobody dares even try to attack our all-time record."

Interestingly, LSU's triumph over Iowa in the 2022 national championship game has sparked a similar initiative. The Hawkeyes, led by star player Caitlin Clark, are set to host DePaul at Kinnick Stadium on October 15. Remarkably, the school has already sold nearly 40,000 tickets for the highly anticipated event, further solidifying the notion that sports enthusiasts are hungry for these unique experiences.

As for LSU, they will commence their season with an away game in Las Vegas on November 6, facing off against Colorado. However, the real excitement lies in their homecoming on November 9, when the Tigers will not only unveil their championship banner but also grace the court against Queens University of Charlotte. This game promises to be a thrilling encounter, and the perfect opportunity to celebrate the team's remarkable achievements.

Angel Reese, with her tweet, has set in motion a wave of enthusiasm among fans and athletes alike. The notion of hosting a women's basketball game in the illustrious Tiger Stadium is an ambitious endeavor, but one that holds the potential to make history once again. As the sports world eagerly awaits the next chapter in this story, one thing remains clear: Angel Reese's proposal has ignited a spark that will undoubtedly leave fans eagerly anticipating the future of LSU women's basketball.
