No. 7 LSU showcased their dominance once again as they secured their 11th consecutive victory with an impressive 81-36 triumph over Northwestern State. The standout performances of Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow, who both recorded double-doubles, propelled the LSU Tigers to another resounding win.
From the opening minutes of the game, LSU showcased their dominance, with Reese leading the charge. She scored 4 points and grabbed 3 rebounds in the first minute and a half, sparking a 13-0 LSU run.
Reese, who had been a force to be reckoned with all season, led all scorers with a remarkable 25 points and 14 rebounds. This outstanding performance marked her fifth double-double of the season and her second consecutive one. Morrow, on the other hand, delivered an exceptional performance, contributing 16 points and securing 14 rebounds. This remarkable display of skill and consistency increased her tally of double-doubles to 7 for the season, with an impressive streak of six in a row.
Coach Kim Mulkey praised the post duo, stating, “The more they play together, the better they become,” Coach Kim Mulkey said about her post duo. “You better get a body on them because they will be around the goal when the ball is shot. Morrow defends on the perimeter a little bit better than Angel. Then Angel will strip someone on a pick while hedging.”
Next, the Tigers will travel to Baltimore, Maryland to face Coppin State at the Physical Education Complex Arena. This game holds special significance for Angel Reese, as it marks her hometown debut since transferring to LSU. Reese expressed her excitement, stating, “It is going to be a surreal moment, it is my homecoming,” Reese said of the trip to Baltimore. “I think it is sold out right now. My Auntie went to Coppin State. Everybody is going to come out, I don’t know who they will be cheering for, Coppin or LSU, but I’m just excited to be able to see so many people in the community come out to see LSU.”
